Philippine Airlines (PAL) has selected IBS Software’s cloud-based iCargo platform to replace its current cargo system. The implementation is intended to extend iCargo across PAL’s domestic and international cargo operations.

IBS Software said the deployment will support PAL’s modernisation programme with capabilities covering its full range of business functions. For cargo movements, iCargo will handle domestic and international operations, including international requirements such as customs reporting, duties and taxes settlement, and regulatory compliance.

Operational focus

According to IBS Software, the transition is meant to help PAL address key operational requirements, including system performance and data analytics. iCargo will provide capabilities intended to support faster shipment processing, greater reliability and end-to-end shipment visibility while reducing manual intervention and enabling more efficient processes.

IBS Software said iCargo already supports carriers with the same mix of domestic and international demands, providing flexibility, scale and capabilities to manage both.

Airline view

Jason Siy, vice president for cargo business at Philippine Airlines, described the initiative as an important step in the modernisation of the airline’s cargo business. He said that as PAL grows across its domestic and international network, it needs a system that increases visibility, improves operational efficiency and enables a better customer experience.

Siy said PAL sees iCargo as a key enabler of its long-term cargo transformation strategy and of its ambition to build a stronger cargo business. No implementation timetable or contract value was disclosed.
